This series is a very special project for Elena. At Just Art It, every item has a story, and these beautiful letterpress prints are no exception. While working on Just Art It’s business plan, Elena would leave herself notes to stay grounded and focused. During the first COVID-19 lockdown, she felt the need to return to these notes, leaving positive messages for herself and her community. Phrases like “Don’t give up” and “Stay positive” appeared in the windows of Just Art It for the duration of the lockdowns when all businesses were closed as a way to stay connected while being disconnected.

As time passed, Elena added to the series with statements and mottos that were deeply important to her, addressing themes such as gender-based violence, freedom of movement, the need for sacrifice, and personal growth. Themes that are just as important today, serving as little reminders never to take freedom for granted. Among these powerful affirmations are “I Am An Alien,” “Peace and Salsa,” “I Am Here Now,” and “Easy Is Good.”

When she learned that a young letterpress printer was setting up a studio in County Clare, she decided to publish the series in 2022.
