We will focus on colour, learning how to adapt your own designs for a multicolour lino print. We will explore the reduction cut technique and other methods to add colours to your print! No experience required and all levels are welcome! Join us! This course is a perfect continuation course, if you have attended a Lino course with Elena before, and also a great opportunity to learn Lino printing in depth for first time!
Lino Printing, or linocut, is one of the most popular printmaking techniques in Relief Printmaking. This course is designed for learning the fundamentals of relief printmaking. You will learn how to carve your own designs on a linoleum plate for making an edition of multicolour prints with the reduction cut technique. You will also explore the Chiné Collé technique for introducing an additional colour into your prints. The course will also cover hand printing, printing process, planification and paper handling, fundamentals of colour mixing, inking and print registration, as well as the use and maintenance of printmaking tools and of the printing press.
We love the meditative aspect of carving and the peaceful atmosphere when we are printing. Once you learn how to create with relief printing techniques you will be able to continue your practice at home, without the need of a studio, and just with a small selection of materials! Elena will give you great tips to continue printing at home!
Our groups are for a limited number of students on Thursday evenings, 7:30-9:30 pm. Everything you need to complete this course is provided and included in the course fee. You are welcome to bring visuals, photographs or sketches as a source of inspiration to create your own lino design.
Our acid-free printmaking courses for adults are fantastic for learning the fundamentals of printmaking with popular techniques. You will learn how to work with your own designs at your own pace in a relaxed atmosphere. Elena will do demonstrations and guide you in the process of creating your own prints. These courses will also cover how to use and maintain printmaking tools, the printing process planification and paper handling, the fundamentals of colour mixing, ink layering, and print registration.
These courses are ideal for complete beginners, or if you wish to refresh your printmaking skills. As for all our art courses, all materials are included in the course fees, and we cater for small groups in order to dedicate one-to-one tuition time to every student.
